Before the song started, Nana was comparing it with POWER GATE and SUPER GENERATION.. *expectation goes up* And indeed the first 15 seconds was promising with a piano opening..
..and suddenly Jam Project joined the choir with their trademarked oOoOoOo.
..followed by generic lyrics in generic tunes.
I don’t like it, nor hate it.. it’s an okay song. Too damn generic for my weird taste tho. I have the habit of imagining how Nana will sing a certain song live (since I’m an otagei leader or watever), and this song will be just.. uhm, okay. :-/ Let’s move on to the better part of this post.
And the good news are..
ULTIMATE DIAMOND got a new song to make up for the 2 weeks delay. I love you, Nana! And your headphone moe.
The song is è’¼ãå…‰ã®æžœã¦ (Aoki Hikari no Hate) -ULTIMATE MODE-, not brand new, but cover of a character song she did for AYAKASHI… which I really like actually, it’s one of Nana’s chara CD that I bought regardless of the lack of coupling song (we get boring drama tracks instead). No I don’t give a damn to the anime. No bitching requesting for Meikyuu Butterfly pls. ..in fact I prob like the piece moar 
Also, yesterday’s SMILE GANG was surprisingly awsm. Nana sang festival songs acoustically.. Here’s a clip of Momotaro no Uta, in which Nana didn’t really remember~, but I think I like folk songs now. ♪

God that was a torture, so I kept Nana’s giggles in the last 2 seconds. <3
..and oh, Nana was enthusiastically talking about the bonus DVD in the beginning of the radio show which I can’t remember, but I guess it will be left as is? I don’t want to get my hopes up high, but.. =D =D
Same thoughts on Brand New Tops… I was like wait, feels like I’m listening to JAM Project in the beginning but overall nothing OMFG I love or hate it. And yay on the additional song; wonder how “ULTIMATE MODE” version will sounds like since the chara song itself was pretty decent as is. On a side note, I can’t believe I actually watched and finished the POS that was Ayakashi! Even with a veteran seiyuu cast there really was no hope of saving *that* anime…
On the bonus DVD, yea sounds intact so far. I believe she was talking about Tomokazu Sugita and Kenichi Suzumura’s acts or something. Sounded pretty funny but wasn’t really listening.
Actually, I kind of expected BLACK DIAMOND to get on the album. You know, the name kind of fits. Just a little bit.
I still don’t understand why I first thought of Takagaki Ayahi hearing Fukuen Misato sing. Have I been staring at the future stream PV too much and getting scarred by her eyes? Hmm.
Well, the giggles made up for the song, which I didn’t fancy at all, though I’m mean and didn’t give the song a real chance by listening to the entire thing. Skimming, skimming.
And if you scan random things later on, warn me first. :<
Granted, the “wo-wo-wo” part was the one I liked the least…but overall I really liked the song! I’m not a fan of Super Generation, and I don’t see the ressemblance with Power Gate (which I do like quite a bit, although not as much as the fans it seems), but like I said many times, I’ll take this classic pop-rock approach with a good performance of not only Nana but also her band than the “two mix-esque” b-sides that are featured in some of her b-sides.
The acoustic singing was really cute, thanks for sharing that.
After a few times on repeat, Brand New Tops is actually quite likable. But I do have to agree with Sebastian, the “wo-wo-wo” part kinda ruins it. Its certainly not the best song out there but, its sure as hell a lot better than other songs Nana has put out before *cough*soradokei*cough*
I only like the ‘wo-wo-wo’ stuff when it’s done by Jam Project, only their Wooooo are powerful enough to sound gar. In this song, the wo just…no way near on par and hence ruined the song.
I’m thinking that the Wo parts was especially made for a concert song, so the audience can join in Wooooo.
The character song for Ayakashi sounds very good. But there’s always one thing wrong with Nana doing character songs, she never sings in character. Nana-chan can’t sing in other styles other then her own. If there’s one thing Hirano Aya can do better then Nana, it is singing in character. I was surprised that Hirano managed to sing Lucky Star Konata’s character single. If Nana-chan can do some song like Mikuru Koi no Bouken, then I’ll take back my statement that she can’t sing in character. But since most characters within anime aren’t suppose to be amazing singers that been trained in singing since they are 5. So sometimes the singing sounds waaay too good for the character.
But then it is very difficult for a trained singer to sing bad -roll eyes-
I wouldn’t ask Nana at all to downgrade her singing for character songs. After all her latest one with Glass no Hana in White Album had me melting in my chair after hearing it. But Rina is a professional singer so I guess Nana at her best suits it.
I approve of the headphone moe. Though Brand New Tops will take some getting used to.
@LilaChan: No offense but I’d give Orikasa Fumiko as a good example of a seiyuu who CAN actually sing in-chara and out-chara, because Goto Yuko can’t fukken sing to save her life (Mikuru’s song is not intentionally bad), and yeah Hirano sounds like Konata but she can’t sing normally too. I agree that Nana doesn’t sing in character (lol Minamike Biyori) but have you heard of Yume no Tsubomi?
I thought she sang in character for the Rosario to Vampire songs.

Hurray for the new song! I’d just started worrying that they’d go ahead and release the album at 14 tracks, and then this comes along, beating my worries into the dust. Nana-chan, you rock.
Brand New Tops is… well, not that bad, but not OMFGAWSM like Etsuraku Camellia either. It’ll do.

Yup I heard of Yume no Tsubomi, I’m quite a Shugo Chara fan. I remember listening to the song when it was first played during episode 43, and all I thought was ‘typical nana quality’, which means amazing. By no means I found out about Nana Mizuki from Shugo Chara, I first knew about her from Memories Off. -roll eyes- I totally remember reading the box that said ‘Famous seiyuu Nana Mizuki did the opening for this game’. And I was thinking ‘Who’s this? And why would a seiyuu make a differnce?’
Yes, Yuko Goto can’t sing to save her life. Totally agreed. What I mean is that, can Nana-chan sing out of tune on purpose, I mean Nana-chan out of tune would be quite…interesting and moe? ;P There’s a certain batch on the internet with Nana songs that’s not in her albums and single. I clicked through quite a few of them, there was either cute Nana or normal Nana, oh there was enka-like Nana too.
I only heard Orikasa Fumiko from Bleach and currently Hawkeye from FMA:Brotherhood. So I haven’t really heard her sing before. I think I heard some ending from druga because the title was weird or something, and it sounded quite good.
