Chihara Minori Summer Camp 2 Live Report

Back again with another live report!

Chihara Minori’s SUMMER CAMP 2 was more than just another concert! Two days in Kawaguchiko Stellar Theater on the feet of Mount Fuji! Since it was pretty far, me and a bunch of friends spent 2 nights in a cottage there. Definitely felt like a real summer camp~~~ ^_^

First, live report!

Opening.
Announcement from staff, briefly explaining live regulations though we already got the paper. Minorinfags are kinda dangerous? lol. Soon after, Minorin walked in with (Costume 1) bright & colorful, kinda-ugly off-shoulder top and shorts… similar feel to Freedom Dreamer PV.

1. Freedom Dreamer
Opening with her energetic latest single! Loved “Everybody jump!” part where everybody actually jumped… Also “Wo~oh” and “Yeah” calls, and especially “Kimi no egao” and “Kimi no yuuki” calls!! This is totally a live song. Tho it was the first public performance (well after Music Japan), but as expected, perfect otagei. ^_^

Briefly welcomes us to Summer Camp 2. The weather was good and sunny in both days… which brought us to the “hare onna / sunny girl” joke that goes as far as year 2006, but recently relived during Freedom Dreamer PV shooting, and aired on Music Japan just the week before.

Oohhh already a powerful UO song! Tension up!

4. ふたりのリフレクション (Futari no reflection)
Two bright, cheerful songs one after the other! Totally get the summer feel. It’s been a long while for Futarifu, one of my Contact picks.

~~ MC ~ Band member intro
Introducing each band members: Gan-chan (drum), Dai-chan (guitar), Dai-sensei (violin), Kenny (keyboard), and Naoyan (bass). It’s the first Summer Camp for Dai-chan.

(Costume 2) Minorin put on the infamous blue happi coat and big festival fan that was a hit amongst FC member. Best part in Day 2, she playfully waved the fan to us, then everyone went “wheeee~~” kinda like Yukarin’s Melon feel. ^^;;

Here comes the reason why SUMMER CAMP is better than Minorin’s normal live (that is, for hardcore fans)… it’s the Special Festival Corner!! Minorin chose her old songs or other people’s songs she wants to sing. This might be eliminated in the BD/DVD later, just like last year. Also the only segment that differs the 2 days. Short MC between songs.

Day 1.

5. マリオネット (Marionette)
KITTAAAAA~~~~ A song from her debut album before Lantis, “Heroine“. Last year she already sung my top 2 faves: jellybeans and Majokko Megu-chan… so no hope for repeats. ;__;  well, Marionette ranks 3rd so it was still awsm!

6. 桜舞うこの約束の地で (Sakura mau kono yakusoku no chi de)
Minorin received plenty emails saying they really LOVE this specific insert song. Somehow I knew it since it’s definitely my favorite too! I’ve heard it in Minorin’s birthday last year, but this song is just too nice!! Please remix this one day for the album xD

7. ultra soul
Just like last year, B’z fangirl Minorin covered a B’z song!! It’s actually a very nice song, I immediately loved it tho I’ve never heard it before. Lol @ “ultra soul” chant.

Day 2.

5. 負けない ～一途バージョン～ (Makenai~Ichizu ver.~)
Started with Minorin’s debut single, ED for Tenjou Tenge OAV. Slow but nice.

6. Be Together
Minorin said it’s related to her “new anime”… oooh crap I haven’t been watching anime for like a year lol. It’s Occult Academy tie-in, tho actually it’s a cover from a 90s song. Not bad.

7. 経験値上昇中☆ (Keikenchi joushouchuu)
Minorin said she had been wanting to do this… then suddenly her voice changed to a familiar tone… “SUMMER CAMP 2, kono bakayarroouuuuu~~!” and Stellar Theater literally exploded! Best Minami-ke song ever, performed LIVE!! I was crying tears of joy ;__; Should I be surprised that most fans did the proper otagei calls? “Sou deshou!!“

Short band show then Minorin is back with (Costume 3) bright red strapless mini dress. What’s with Minorin and her bare shoulders lately? I think that look kinda make her look rounder, because she’s *cough* nicely developed *cough*..

9. Dears～ゆるやかな奇跡～ (Dears~yuruyaka na kiseki~)
I think I’ve said it before that Contact songs kinda sound the same haha. I was still excited over the special corners, but still nice to hear songs I haven’t heard live before.

10. Cynthia
Now this is a good Contact song, tho lyrics totally don’t make sense. Under the moonlight, lovers meet Cynthia~ ♪

MC ~ Flag Lesson
OOOOOH, NEW FLAG SONG!!! If Nana has her towel songs, Minorin has these fun flag-waving routine!! Lush March was the pioneer, which got overly popular amongst her otagei-crazed fans. Must be good news for them, since Minorin can permanently force people to buy 500 yen concert-special flag in every live!

New flag song is from Freedom Dreamer single: Best mark smile. Minorin-sensei taught us the flag routine by herself! Dunno if this will make sense, but here goes my attempt to explain it. Sorry you only get Danie-sensei… m(_ _)m Clip of just the flag part.

Many fans already guessed it’s a new flag song, since the lyrics kinda gave it away (“put up your victory flag”). Difficulty increased compared to Lush March.. but it’s still easy enough for everyone. I just realized I was present in both flag first-lessons: Parade Day 1 and this, haha. And LOL @ the loud “JYAN!!” after each practice.. Minorin couldn’t help to laugh too.. xD The “lesson” was unnecessarily repeated again and again haha.

12. Voyager train

As the familiar intro started playing, Minorin walked up the stairs in (Costume 4) black top, orange mini-skirt, very Tomorrow’s chance~~ ♪ She made a round on the gap between 1F-2F, walking! (red line) She stopped in a stair-like mini-stage to sing 1 chorus on left & right side (black spots).. in the middle of everyone! Really a voyager train ^_^

13. 詩人の旅 (Shijin no Tabi)
Without Contact prelude to begin, it was like a sudden explosion. Very nice!

14. Paradise Lost -at next nest-
And the hall turned red! It’s clearly fan-favorite. I remember listening to it every single day on my way to work to wake me up lol.

15. Final Moratorium
Moratorium green lights~!! Somehow I see its similarity to Nana’s NEXT ARCADIA. Futuristic, super energetic, and works awesomely with fire skits!

PHEW WATER!! WTF six epic song without a rest, definitely tension raised to the max! Minorin delivered the bad news that next song is the last… speaking of Summer Camp, it’s summer.. speaking of summer, it’s….

18. Sunshine flower
Can say it’s the Summer Camp theme song, I shoulda known that and didn’t forget to buy yellow lights T__T well green did okay.. Love the fun solo instrument while Minorin danced near them. And the lalalala together at the end was sweet.

Encore

(Costume 5) Live goods T-shirt A + Aloha shirt + white skirt. Most importantly, big white flower on Minorin’s head… very Hawaiian~! All band members wore T-shirt B + Aloha shirt. What a good way to promote that overpriced 5,000 yen shirt.

19. SUMMER CARNIVAL ～みのりんサンバ～ (Minorin Samba)
OMG THIS IS THE BEST EVER!!! Minorin and all her band members did this stupid aloha dance that was hilariously stupid and FUN! All fans also tried to follow the dance ^_^ Day 2 was super special, extra dancers: staff~!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes, Minorin made her managers, producers, Lantis staff.. all those stiff office workers danced!!! BLURAY NAU PLOX! Definitely #1 highlight of this concert!!!

Minorin explained the samba history. She was thinking what special thing to do in Summer Camp 2 and could be put into Ittousei CD….. and just like that, “I feel like samba” HAHA. Saito P approved so there goes. She thanked her band members and staff for the dance, and interviewed the old-men band. Gan-chan was like, “I wanna die.” LMAO other band members were okay tho. ^^; Minorin said how she wants to do this again, and a girl shouted “ANISAMA! XD” lolol Minorin heard that and replied, “Anisama? That’s kinda….” lolololol.

20. 純白サンクチュアリィ (Junpaku Sanctuary)
Yep, it’s time to turn white…. Minorin let us sing one full verse. Nice to know after so many songs, this still holds an important spot in fans’ hearts.

Next up is a very special song she composed herself with her guitar, on one starry night. Ittousei literally means first-magnitude star. She also advertised that the event-limited CD is on sale… ummm, Minorin, you mean “sold out way before the concert started”…? ^^;

Damn niceeeeee *_* Really too bad she didn’t perform the guitar too..

After that, Minorin & band bowed to everyone saying gratitudes, then disappeared backstage. Is the concert over? Apparently no, since the light is still off…. so everyone started chanting “Mou ikkai~~!!” (once more!!)

~~ W-Encore

(Costume 6) Blue yukata that she wore for many on-site promotions. Minorin looked SO adorable omgomg my nose. Wheeeee double encore!! WHEEE YUKATA!!!　Σ(´д｀*) sooo adorable~~

Last coupling song from Freedom Dreamer.. a nice summer ballad.

~~ Ending ~ Fireworks

Summer festival isn’t complete without massive fireworks. Photo from Minorin’s staff diary. I saw them clearly on Day 1 (seat 1F).. but only half of Day 2 (seat 2F).. but anyway it’s the summer dream of everyone there to watch fireworks with Minorin ^_^

The concert really ended with Minorin’s direct message to us (without mic). After everyone gets quiet, she shouted, “Minna-san, DAAAAAAAIIISUKIII~~~~~” WHOOOOOO ♥♥ we love you too, Minorin!

Misc.
* If I have to describe a Minorin live.. it won’t be “epic”, but “enjoyable”. Very entertaining MC (airheads FTW!! xD).. also loved how she replied to people’s shouts.. somehow feels more personal. Everyone had real fun and went home with a wide smile.

* Minorin said all her family attended Summer Camp 2. I did see people who sat near the staff, not exactly on the seating chart.. also no-otagei is so VIP lol. However, someone wasn’t so ordinary.. a man on his 50s, wearing all live goods, waving flag/penlight crazily… I srsly think it’s Minorin’s dad! I heard rumors that daddy is Minorin’s #1 fan lolol I guess it’s true? ^^
