Faylan x ELISA Talk & Live

Full long-ass title: Faylan x ELISA Talk & Live: GLORIOUS DIVA ~Shinsedai no Utahimetachi~

Held on Oct 10 as a part of Tsukuba University School Festival. Tsukuba is one of Japan’s top university, and obviously the richest –with their own city and Tsukuba Express train line (no wonder they took interest in Railgun anime lol). The anime club hosted this Say You Live project. There were also angela live and Railgun seiyuu event (Satou Rina and Itou Kanae).. I had to pass on the latter 2 cuz I had Yukarin banzai to go xD

I only checked “Access” page the night before so was shocked to learn Tsukuba is damn far. An hour from my place, plus 15 mins bus ride.. Then 2 hours to Yokohama for Yukarin orz. Event was scheduled to start at 11.45, so I got up at 8.30, watch Precure (lol yes still have time for this) while having coffee.. and GO~! Subway train got delayed so I missed my TX train.. arrived slightly before 11.30.

As usual my seat was wonderful at row 4 haha.

Noticed many people with ELISA T-shirt.. well she has 2 years longer career than Faylan with obviously more solo live (Faylan only had 1). I got my Faylan towel anyway.

-Started late at noon. Two MCs greeted and cued us to call “FEINYAN!! ELISA!!” out. Both girls appeared.. ELISA was stunning in her white dress and bright smile.. tho my eyes were fixated at Faylan, looking wonderful in her red dress (still dislike her new bangs tho lol).

-Short intro. ELISA told us it’s been 3 years since her debut, which initiated Faylan’s dojikko side, “Hi I’m Faylan~ Since my debut it’s been… one year and…. *counting with fingers, looking very confused* ….a few months!!” ^^; dojikko-Fei sew cute~
-Short talk about this being a School Festival.. ELISA is still a student (1989 born) enrolled in English major lol explains her pretty okay pronunciation. Faylan performed Utada Hikaru songs during her school festival (still no hint on how old she is tho xD).
-Staff brought out chairs and desks for our guests. ELISA quickly commented “This really feels like school!”

Talk Event.
Both girls had to answer a few questions on a big sketchbook and discuss it. The theme is “女子力” (Girl Power). Attendees will decide who wins later.

Q1: What “girl power” thing is always in your bag?
-MC asked attendees too. A guy shouted “Hachimaki!!” which received loud applause lol. Sure a Japanese headband symbolizes power, but not girl power. MC asks if there are any female attendance.. very very few and nobody answered the question. I really shoulda shouted “LIGHTSTICK!!!” lol.
-Faylan answered “Perfume”, but it prompted ELISA to sniff herself.. and they ended up sniffing each other lolwut xD
-ELISA wrote “ばんそうこ” (Bandage), which should be ばんそうこう, ELISA missed the last う lol. Weird answer but she wants to treat people who got injured anytime.. yep totally can imagine people hurting themselves for that.

Q2: Draw a Rilakkuma!

-Most famous icon based on Tsukuba girls survey.. well even I find Rilakkuma cute lol. I know Faylan’s drawing sucks, but wasn’t sure about ELISA. Both tried to cheat on each other.. too bad they both sucked.
-Faylan drew a cat that somehow had 4 tank-like wheels (legs?).
-ELISA’s drawing was sorta bear-ish, but somehow it looked more like a frog..

Q3: Make this sounds girlish!

-The famous Fist of the North Star catchphrase “お前はもう死んでる” (You’re already dead) said before Kenshiro kills his enemies. Change it into something with Girl Power!
-Faylan: “俺はお前のことが大好きだったよ” (I used to love you..) then *whacks enemy* lolol is that what people call heaven before dying?! xD
-ELISA: “お前はいつから死んでるの” (So how long have you been dead~?) ..she just rephrased it and added feminine sentence ending ^^;

It’s time for audience to judge by clapping their hands. Faylan went first then ELISA. Both had pretty similar response, but ELISA won thanks to some fans breaking their light sticks. I think it’s just a matter of chance, if ELISA went first then Faylan would have won.

Oh well, LOL presents anyway. It’s Tsukuba anime club’s famous souvenir with yaoi-ish drawing… no thx.

Apparently ELISA didn’t know the list goes in order. ^^; She quickly explained that her favorite Faylan song is Dark Side of the Light. Just like ELISA’s debut “euphoric field”, the lyrics were all in English. ELISA knows how hard it is to put emotions in a non-Japanese song, so she admires how Faylan did a really good job conveying hers.

ELISA sorta specializes in ballads, so the energetic Real Force was something different but it still sounds great. Special mention on Dear My Friend, Faylan really likes the PV because she thinks ELISA looks uber cute riding a bicycle..

Somehow they drifted the song talk to a very interesting topic.. May’n lol.

-Faylan adores May’n, even “confessed” on weekly Nico live program Toriaezu Namachuu when Faylan guested to promote Polaris. Well I suspected that Faylan’s new bangs are copied from May’n.. sew gay lolol.
-ELISA self-proclaimed herself as Mayn’s girlfriend (well they did date last week). ELISA even uses May’n songs as her phone ringtone and alarm clock… one time it rang when May’n was there ROFL. May’n responded by saying “気持ち悪い” (that’s gross) hahaha.
They settled with having a love triangle. Funny how both MC were left speechless.

Live Event.
Finally what everyone was waiting for..

-Starts with ELISA’s Wonder Wind.. Maybe it’s just me but sound settings sounded weak. Got better after a few minutes in tho, so maybe they were just adjusting from talk to concert mode.
-Without any break, directly continued to Faylan’s Errand!! Grabbed my UO and switched to crazy mode xD
-ELISA reappeared on stage.. oooh a duet?! And out of all song, LION?! Good coincidence after the May’n topic lulz. They exchanged May’n parts to make it a more balanced duet (Mamegu part is shorter).. but I think Faylan’s voice was too strong for ELISA’s breathy voice. :-/

-Next was ELISA’s part. She opened with euphoric field, which was neat.
-Short MC I can’t remember before the cute Rinrinto (Wonder Wind c/w). Besides fans, nobody knows that song lol.
-Real craze was Real Force. I just heard it in Anisama but it’s still great! Of course everyone did the E~LI~SA call! xD
-ELISA delivers good MC,  she asked if any of us are real Tsukuba students ^^; Some responded, but ELISA doubted them even more lol. She then asked if we’re even university students, which turns out to be majority. Pretty obvious since both artists are pretty new, and only students have time to watch anime.
-Last song, I expected her soon-out single “Special One”, but we got Heaven’s Sky (c/w) instead, which is better since I might not have other chance to hear it live.

-Finallyyyy Faylan’s part. Dark Side of the Light was the usual powerful song! I really think she’s a great live performer.
-Short MC asking who bought her album (I did! I did!) and unexpectedly we got Polaris! I’m sure this is the first time she performed that song live.  It’s fast-paced, but happy and energetic, totally changed the atmosphere! And that cute Feinyan’s freestyle dance~
-Suddenly back to cool-Faylan with mind as Judgment. As expected it got the craziest response. 3 UO songs one after the other, I started to sweat..
-Faylan shocked us during MC asking ”Are any of you in love now?” out of nowhere, tho I quickly realized it’s to cue in a song. ^^; She also asked, “When was your first-love?” which had interesting responses (like “NOW!!” lol). Faylan proceeded to her first-love story. Started in grade school, she was very shy and couldn’t even talk to him/her.. so it was one-sided until they graduated lol.
-As I expected, spring ~kimi no to melody~! Back to cute-Feinyan again~ ♪

-ELISA joined Faylan on stage, presented the next song as a support song for students to keep on studying hard: Yuzurenai Negai! Glad it’s not K-on but such a classic that everyone love.
-After the song, they thanked us quickly before going backstage. I could feel the rush since they started late and gotta prepare for next events.
-Shortest encore waiting time ever, before a very familiar tune kicks in.. OMG PARADISE LOST!! Faylan sounded sooo good. ;__;
-When everyone were still catching their breath, Faylan and ELISA waved goodbye to us as the curtain closes down.

Goods

Pretty good (cheap!) choices. I got penlights, towel, and tote bag. Black T-shirt with the same design in red was good, but there’s no S size so..

Impressions
Faylan totally owns the live section with her stronger, steadier voice. But ELISA has more interesting personality; she’s funny and know when to throw jokes. On the downside, the event had a rushed feeling esp the ending left us hanging; a better time management would be good.. but for such a cheap price (1,800yen) I couldn’t ask for more. Good job!
