Just confirming that I’m alive and well.
March 12 (3:00)
I’m sure it’s on world news everywhere: Largest disaster in Japan’s history.
The strongest 8.9 magnitude scale hit Sendai, soon followed with tsunami sweeping northern east coast of Japan. Thankfully Tokyo “only” had a 5 magnitude scale earthquake at 3pm, followed by small aftershock every 20 mins or so until now at 3am.
Tokyo didn’t have many injuries/casualties to begin with, but above all, I’m very glad everyone in Tokyo are fine.
-Nana was doing narration in studio. It’s her first experience with such a strong, long earthquake, but she’s okay. Now I wish Nana tweets so she could keep us updated. =(
-Yukarin was in basement recording studio. She still worked hard, WALKING 2 hours to the next studio. She’s now safe at home thanks to sound producer Tama-chan driving Yukarin and manager home.
-Minorin was in 12th floor after Anisama 2011 press conference. The swaying must have been REALLY scary up there… Tomorrow’s KFD live is postponed (other events and anime are suspended too), but I’m happy enough she’s safe.
-Faylan was doing photoshoots for new CD. She was surprisingly the calmest amongst all. Faylan staff are fine too. They’re spending the night in studio.
-Mingosu was in afureko studio (stopped halfway). Everyone in Anisama 2011 press conference was fine too (Nacchan, Makkun, etc).
I was in class when it happened. We all thought it was the usual sways, so nobody really cared.. but it didn’t stop and things started to fall.. then we heard teachers shouting to evacuate everyone, so we all went down the stairs and got out.. lots of people on the street but nobody looked really panicked. I was pretty calm too. ^^; It was much scarier in class since it’s in 4th floor, not so much on the ground.
Tokyo’s biggest problem was public transportation. Trains are suspended so everyone got stuck. Lucky that my house was only 30 mins walk away, but some friends at work etc had to walk 5 hours in the cold. I got home to find my kitchen turned into disaster. My fridge moved half a meter, rice cooker flew and broke, cereal box burst open, plates broke.. no gas service either so I can’t cook, and kombini ran out of food so I had cup noodle and ice cream for dinner. At least there’s water, electricity, and internet.. and no CD was hurt.
The biggest, closest effect was an oil refinery factory exploded in Chiba (just 2 hours from here) that some people in Tokyo witnessed the smoke. Also Tokyo Tower bent. But the worst was northern east coast’s tsunami. Hundreds died and a lot more still missing as of now. 40 thousands people lost home. All channels on TV have been broadcasting heartbreaking images nonstop since then. It’s still impossible to contact anyone over there.
Japanese officials reacted quickly to minimize victims. I also find it amazing that everyone tried helping each other. Budokan was used as refugee camp. BicCamera (electronic store) gave away free mobile phone charger. Lots of shops distribute free drinks. Information distributed quickly via mixi and twitter, which was very helpful. I follow lots of Japanese and foreigners, and while there were many sympathetic foreigners, there were some people making retarded jokes too. It’s not funny.
Anyway, I wish everyone’s okay..
It’s still swaying until now so I don’t think I’ll sleep orz.
March 12 (14:30)
Thank you for the sympathy.
I managed to sleep about 6am, woke up about 1pm and it’s still swaying orz.
-Still can’t get through to people in northern east coast area. Death and missing toll is raised to 1,300 now (about 400+ dead).
-There’s some warnings on a radiation leak in Fukushima nuclear power plant, but it seems they have evacuated the residents, and while I don’t know for sure, Tokyo should be safe since we’re 200km away.
-I saw tweets asking us to save electricity, so only my PC is on now to keep me informed. No TV and no heater, but it’s nothing compared to the disaster up there.
I want to see good news today. =(

Thank goodness Nana-sama is safe.I got so worried I was about to cry so the first place I decided to check was your blog.Im glad you are alive as well.GoodLuck!
Good to know you’re okay. And I think it’s great that people help each other in situations like this. I hope you get rest, and please, keep us informed.
PS: Thanks the Lord Nana’s it’s fine.
Good to hear you are safe! And Nana is safe! And all them peeps!
As someone who lives in another earthquake-prone region of the world (hurray for the Pacific Ring of Fire /sarcasm), it always sucks to hear about these things happening. Goddamn tectonic plates. At least it’s a relief to know that you’re okay (Well, mostly. My condolences for your lost rice cooker and plates.), and even bothered to update us on the other people we might care about.
No matter what, people are going to make jokes about things. It’s how some people cope with traumatic events. There are always those douche bags who mean it though. Best just to overlook their ignorance and keep going about your day.
sob* y this happen again! T_T
but ya…at least your side is alright…but this is nearly the same kind of event back from 2004…pray hopefully everyone is alright….
Really glad most people including you and nana are okay and condolences to your died rice cooker, plates and gas service.
sorry i went sleep earlier and not keeping you company, i guess you’re asleep now. I see that the aftershocks still coming, swaying you and the people in Tokyo as well. I hope no big ones are coming.
also deep condolences to the victims and the bereaving families.
and salute to Japanese Gov’t fast and expert reaction to the disaster, minimalizing the worst possible outcome.
Reading your tweets, I thought it was just a regular earthquake at first until I realised it wasn’t.
Glad to hear you and most of your stuff got off ok.
Hey, glad to see you (and everyone in ur post, heh) are all right though the continuous aftershocks and ur kitchen must’ve sucked. It’s horribly depressing to watch the news right now (which is the only thing to watch on tv now) also incredibly strange cos since this part of Japan was hardly affected – it’s just another ‘ordinary’ day outside, can’t believe everything on screen happened within the same country in the past day =/ Really hope stuff returns to normal soon – though it’ll probably take forever to deal with the disaster stricken north
It’s great to hear you are safe.i seriously hope that this disaster will ends fast and japan will recover fast.as for those retards who make fun of this incident they should go to the affected area and experience it personally.
Great to hear that you’re all right. I’m praying that casualties will remain as low as they have been, and that recovery will be quick.
Good to hear that everything is fine. It was terrifying disaster after watching the news. I am glad that Nana chan and the people are safe.
Hopefully Japan will be able rebuild asap
Glad to hear you are safe, Nana and others, too. I’m sad seeing Sendai was destroyed like that. I like this city and often visited it when traveled around Tohoku region and I were there only a month ago T-T
It was horrifying to see such a scary tsunami engulfed east coast. It reminds me of the terrible 2004 tsunami disaster in my country. How can some (retarded) people making joke about it? That’s not funny at all.
Glad you are safe =)
Now to try and contact my senior….
At the exact moment when erthquakes took place, I woke up. I turned on the TV and I saw what was happening. I was worried about Hocchan, Nana, Yukarin and you. I immediatly checked out Twitter and blogs. Thank you Danie. And I’m glad you’re safe. Good luck.

Yatta, yokatta…
Hontou-ni arigatou gozaimasu, Danie-chan~
\(^___^)/
*I’m so want to kiss you (>3< ). LOL J/K *
I heard there was another quake and MORE aftershocks….
Nuclear plant exploded…
;_;
The (almost) only thing on Channel News Asia have now is the quake/tsunami aftermath and they are all so depressing =(
Hope Japan can recover fast =(
no heater? oh god.please keep us updated so we can know you are alright especially with all that swaying…… stay safe. (I live in new york btw.)
@Bevue: Hocchan has a twitter so she quickly confirmed that she’s fine too. =)
@WLHT: Nuclear plant didn’t explode, only walls and roofs building house which has nothing to do with the reactor. 4 workers were injured but they’ll be okay. No casualty. Japanese officials are working hard to shut the entire plant down and just in case evacuated all residents 20km from the plant.
Ah, I’m glad.
Do you want post the picture of your house in your Blog Danie?
