‹ Mizuki Nana LIVE DIAMOND Report <3 <3 •
Yeah I end up watching this too.. really out of budget but hey the concert was pretty awsm.
I’m just a casual Kanno Yoko fan, but I like a lot of her works (and own a lot of her CDs actually), I love Sakamoto Maaya, and I always welcome some good music for myself.. so I decided to get some ticket off scalpers around Saitama Super Arena.. pretty good price tho the seat is really up there.
I’ll leave the good details to the actual fan, and the setlist is already up on the Gabriela Robin site too.. but I guess I’ll bore you with my noob report anyway.
Goods.
There’s only 4 live goods available: poster (sold out since god knows when), shirt, towel + hiyoko push toy, and the super hilarious pamphlet.

I bought the pamphlet cos there’s a CD inside (3:22 minutes of piano) ..and found the towel lying on the street lol.
The pamphlet is awsm cos it has full Engrish translation.. the content itself is hilariously funny. So SEATBELTS people are comin’ from outer space, to celebrate Tanabata in Saitama. The interviews are really funny, especially the “special ability” part.. in Engrish, like:
Yoko Kanno: I have a very keen nose. I can be friends with any animals.
Sakamoto Maaya: I can sense a good restaurant.
May’n: I know almost every taiyaki sold.
Yamane Mai: When I sing, I can connect the center of the galaxy to the core of the earth.
Interview with Gabriela Robin is different story, the Engrish doesn’t make sense at all lol.. I’m too lazy to type so just wait til someone scans, but she did say she’s eternally 16 years old~ xD

So this is the view from where I sat. I forgot to take the other side of the stage lol. There are big screens to help us up here to actually see something.. but well I want to appreciate the music so sit anywhere is fine for me.
Live Highlights.
- What Planet Is This! What Planet Is This! What Planet Is This!
- Okay I love Macross songs.. but the scale of this concert is something else. I heard Iteza before in the very same hall last year, but I guess the band quality made the difference. And awww Seikan Hikou! Nakamegu is really cute and adorable.
- I SAW KANNO YOKO DID KIRA~ POSE.
- The actual highlight of this concert was definitely the super long medley. FAHK GIMME DVD SO I CAN RIP THE AUDIO $%!$!@#!
- The medley began with.. Sousei no Aquarion by May’n! Hm I was hoping for Akino to be a special guest or something, but May’n did a good job on her behalf.
- Nakamegu’s version of Ai Oboeteimasuka was really beautiful. Lots of Frontier songs.. but then a familiar tune and voice kicked in, and I wanted to shout and cry at the same time… PLATINUM!! ;__;0
- Followed by awsm Ghost in the Shell and Wolf’s Rain songs by their respective singers, which were really great, but I exploded when Maaya sang Yubiwa.. I WANT A FULL SONG $%!@! lol suddenly my buried love for Maaya came back to life…
- Have I told you I love Yamane Mai too? xD
- The encore was unbelievable.. it was probably 1 hour alone. Started with two Bebop numbers (Yo pumpkin head and Tank!), and then the super awsm Warsaw Phil Orchestra medley of about 10 animu OST! Really makes me want to rewatch Escaflowne again.. and LOL SMS Shoudai!
- All performers are back on stage to wave/thank the audience, led by Nakamegu and May’n… and dokkun dokkun dokkun: Anata no Oto! During the dokkun part, the push toy was used.. lol Super Arena was full of funny sound.
- I know that Kanno Yoko’s speaking voice is hilariously cute, but listening to it after all those epic performances was something else xD Human Hiyoko Taicho lol.
- ….ended with Kanno Yoko singing Moon live. ;_; Couldn’t believe my luck.
Overall I’m really impressed with Kanno’s ability to perform live continuously.. there was almost no MC at all.. pure musical heaven! I’m pretty sure there won’t be any DVD tho, since I didn’t see any camera moving around except those needed for the big screens..
…and fine I will make some extra purchases tomorrow (while I’m still impressed and somewhat deluded), and I’m dead tired so ’til the next report~

I am beyond jealous!!! I really want to go to a concert in Japan. I finally made it out there for a doujin con (Comic 1 - 3) which was way awesome, so next is a concert on my must do…*sigh* and this one would have been perfect

I’m just dropping by here to tell the world(and Kanno Yoko herself, if she can read this) that Kanno Yoko’s soundtrack music for Cowboy BeBop/Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door/O.S.T. Future blues is one of the most astonishing things I’ve ever heard in popular music. Kanno Yoko in this music jumps musical genres with an offhanded grace that is astonishing and beautiful and at times very funny. Everyone I’ve ever played this music for is similarly blown away. Honestly, there is nothing else like it on earth. If, like me, your musical tastes are all over the map, Kanno Yoko’s Cowboy BeBop/Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door/O.S.T. Future Blues will be like sugar to ants. I send out my profound admiration to Kanno Yoko - I hope someone can tell her. I listen to this soundtrack a real lot and it never ceases to amaze me. Yrs with respect…Greg Cameron, Surrey, B.C., Canada
