May’n singing Eternal Blaze

Filler post cos I ended up rearranging my posters room today, instead of finishing the Japan loot post. xD

(Eternal Blaze starts at 1:42)

To be honest, she looked really constipated suffering, especially when she tried to reach the high notes. If I’m not blind, she sweated a bit too much (or it was really hot?), and her face turned a bit red.. ^^;;;

The show was Animax Musix Countdown, held in May this year. It’s a good try and I actually like it, tho I think it lacks the usual overwhelming spirit. I’d say Endoh did a better job to convey the power.. tho May’n version definitely much superior than Iwao Junko’s wtf-bossa version.

..but still, nothing beats the greatness of the original~!

Her suffering on the high notes is already visible in the beginning of Eternal Blaze itself lol

and original ftw xD

I wonder if the crowd in May’n concert are the same people in Mizuki Nana concert…because They sound almost the same in some parts… :P

@Toonleap: The calls for a song doesn’t change no matter who sings it.. cos it follows the rhythm, not the singer lol.

Eternal Blaze is seriously a really hard song to sing well, and I think May’n did a good job; it’s one of the better ones I’ve heard, but yea, she looks really awkward in some parts.

Still, like you said, nothing beats the original, especially if it was already done to close perfection. : D In Endoh’s case, the different arrangement suited his voice and style without killing the song.

i loled every time she tried to take high notes, her face is full of suffering & her throat seems like it’s about to rip. well tried tho, she tried to change some part into her style, and add some voices when there are no vocal, i’d still give her 6/10 :D

They could have always transposed it down a few steps. I doubt anyone (save the perfect pitch fags) would have noticed.

I knew Eternal Blaze is a really really really hard song to sing, the notes goes high and low really quickly, especially when Nana pulls her notes really long and making it even harder to sing. May’n looks like she tried her best, I’ll give her 7/10, 1 point for being the ‘Galactic Fairy’.

Endoh’s version is the only version that I think someone might prefer to the original. In that anison grand prix, HIMEKA sang it too. I give that version 8.5/10.

Every single anison singer has done a cover of Cruel Angel’s Thesis, including Nana herself.

she is really suffocating….and ya,himeka’s version in nice too.
p.s. why did most of the anison singer sang cruel angel’s thesis?

Mmm… a little late answer, but the reasons why most of the anison singers sang that song, it’s because Evangelion in Japan is very popular, and it doesn’t help that Zankoku, thanks to Evangelion, it has become in one of the most popular songs between the otakus in Japan.

And thanks to the big popularity that have the song between the anison world, many anison artists has made a cover of that song. Makkun, Mikuni Shimokawa, Animetal, Junko Iwao, Haruko Momoi (if I’m not wrong), Shoko Nakagawa, Chihiro Yonekura, between many, many others.

I hope that this will solve your doubt, gekkie.
