I’m having mixed feelings about this album. It’s not a bad album, there are some noteworthy songs, but it really is a weird mix. And I can’t decide if there were too much or too little thoughts put into it during production. It’s too experimental, and not a solid album like Great Activity was.

Still, it’s rather refreshing being exposed to so many different Nana music styles at once, and I can’t really complain about the Oricon #1.

But again, ultimate diamond already has great songs, making great activity having even better songs

Since Great Activity sold some 43k in its first week, I’d expect Ultimate Diamond to be around that number as well. And if that number keeps up the chances of Nana getting first for the week would be pretty great.

Actually speaking of the sales number, if Ultimate Diamond was released on schedule, a quick check on the Oricon charts shows that it probably wouldn’t have gotten number 1 (eminem’s album sold 47k for the week, and the next up is enka singer Hikawa Hiyoshi who sold 42k, so Nana would probably had gotten second on that week). So maybe the whole drug scandel would turn out to be a good thing afterall as it pitched Nana’s album to much weaker opponents. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that Nana would be the first seiyuu singer to be ranked first on the Oricon weekly.

I think 24,000 in a day is REALLY good. You get that for a whole week for other seiyuus like Yukarin or Hirano Aya (if my memory serves me right). Day two she did 16,781. That totals to 41,211. She’ll almost definately get first this week. Even if it is released on the original week, it could still get first. If 2 days already made it to 41k, she can easily sell more then 47k.

The bonus DVD was just plain hilarious, lots of anime/otaku reference. Calling Nana ‘ginga no uta-hime’. Oh they made loads of jokes about Nana’s height too, for once she didn’t wear high heels (Nana…I feel your pain, I’m shorter then you). The two enka songs she did was obviously performed perfectly, since she was trained in that since she’s five. But it does sound REALLY hard to sing.

Spoilers! I’m still waiting for my CD to arrive. Should be here by tomorrow or the day after!

uh, i still need to wait until the concert before i get hold of the CD & DVD T_T

After a few listens, I can say this IS a good album, but the thing that dissapoints me a little is that most of the new songs aren’t as good as the ones we previously knew on singles, and that lowers the score for me: an album must feature songs that aren’t suited as singles but nonetheless get better and better after each listen…I dunno, I guess Ultimate Diamond doesn’t work as well as a whole as previous nana albums did. I do like it anyway, of course.

Dancing in the velvet moon (well, I actually love this one live, with drums)

Chimoku no Kajitsu (not as epic as other epic songs of her)
Brand New Tops (yeah the wo wo thing is annonying)
Ray of Change
Aoki Hikari no Hate (if this song was a little more rockish, I would love it)

Songs that weren’t bad but missed something:
Perfect Smile
Mr Bunny
Shonen

Didn’t care for:
Gimmick Game (outdated and repetitive, and this is coming from someone who likes retro sounds)
Yume wo Tsuzuki (although I love her vocal performance)

Too bad Discotheque wasn’t included, I think it’s a REALLY good song, even if a little silly.
