Momoi Halko more & more quality WHITE + RED

First press edition comes with those glittery stickers and posters. And don’t ask me why they put m.o.v.e album ads inside the CD.

..and I have no idea what to do with the twins -_-;

more & more quality WHITE – self song cover -

1. Camera=Mannenhitsu!!! (Kobayashi Sanae, Asai Kiyomi, Matsuki Miyu) (OVA Hand-Maid May OP)
2. S・P・Y (Nogawa Sakura)
3. Girls be ambitious!! (Omakase! Trouble Tenshi)
4. Sport-shimasho☆ (SD☆CHILDREN / Matsuki Miyu + Kaneda Tomoko) (Ryusei Sentai Musumetto)
5. Ichigo Ichie (Acefile Kushiyoshi – idol unit)
6. Samishikunai Mon (UNDER17) (Shinobu Chikku☆Heart ED)
7. Never Give Up! (Alice Quartet)
8. Anata ga Daikirai (Nakahara Komugi) (Nurse Witch Komugi-chan)
9. Life is free〜momo-i version〜 (Shintani Ryoko) (Damekko Doubutsu)
10. WONDER MOMO-i〜World tour version〜

At first I thought, why would she release a cover album containing her own songs? She’s not Yonekura Chihiro, lmao. But then I saw the tracklist, and it became interesting.. it includes many catchy anime/game songs that Momoi composed, but performed by other singers. Though the songs maybe too weird for most of us here. I only knew half of the list, lmao.

I like the original UNDER17 version of Samishikunai Mon more.. but the new Never Give Up! sounds great. And listening to Anata ga Daikirai made me miss Komugi-chan so much ^^;

But the winner is obviously Wonder Momoi, it was actually the first song that turned me into a somewhat faithful Momoist. Absolutely love the song whatever mix it is, including this new ~world tour version~, which has more 8-bit-like tunes than the original single (~New recording~).

more & more quality RED – anime song cover –

1. Give a reason (Hayashibara Megumi) (Slayers Next OP)
2. Gamble Rumble (m.o.v.e) (Initial D Third Stage OP)
3. Butter-Fly (Wada Kouji) (Digimon OP1)
4. Happy☆Material (Class 2-A) (Negima OP)
5. SOLDIER DREAM〜English version〜 (Kageyama Hironobu) (Saint Seiya OP2)
6. DASH!!〜Racer Mini Yonku no Theme〜 (Yokoyama Chisa) (Dash! Yonkuro)
7. Ai Oboeteimasuka (Iijima Mari) (Macross)
8. INVOKE (T.M.Revolution) (Gundam Seed OP)
9. STEP (a・chi-a・chi) (Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru OP)
10. Romance no Kamisama (Hirose Kohmi) (?)

While I wouldn’t really recommend the WHITE self-cover to casual listeners, this album is a pure masterpiece. Well, if you ignore track 9. And I don’t know what track 10 is doing there (as in I don’t know if Hirose ever did an anime tie-in), but it’s a fun song.

Not much change to Give a reason, but Gamble Rumble is impressive. It still has motsu (m.o.v.e rapper) voice, so maybe that’s why he can advertise the new album there? lol. Butter-fly and SOLDIER DREAM are fantastic and really bring back memories (like all innocent young girls, I used to be in love with Shiryu and played few digital monsters), but I only realized it after two minutes that she’s singing the English version of SOLDIER DREAM.

Happy Material is fun no matter how many times I’ve heard the song, and Momoi’s energetic denpa brought-up is now my favorite version.. like how I’ve decided that Yuzurenai Negai IS a Momoi song. *lalala* But my favorite piece should be the unique bossanova-ish Ai Oboeteimasuka.. should have been included in Nyan Tama? :P

Overall.
Music-wise, Momoi’s cover song arrangements never disappoint me. She always tries to inject her character into the songs, and Momoized them to entirely different and fun songs.. though she could have done more songs to justify the cost. ^^;
