NANA MIZUKI LIVE FEVER 2009 Full Report, Costumes, and Set Lists

I can barely feel my legs or upper arms now, so writing this report is a better option than going out this afternoon. ;)

A lot of spoilers after the jump. You have been warned.

One Nana @ 1/23

- Sunday morning was freezing cold, even colder than Friday’s rainy morning or Saturday’s windy morning, about 2 degree according to the weather report. The gate was still closed when I arrived at 5.40 am, but the queue had already halfway to Kudanshita station. See this map:

The arrow was where I started queuing. About 7 am they opened the gate, as walking up I looked back to see how long the current queue was.. there were hundreds of people, few times more than the previous two days.. lol @ the same faces in the first hundreds.

- DISCOTHEQUE definitely went way up there to my favorite list. Chu-ru-chu-ru-chu-ru pa-ya-pa is just damn addicting.. After encore, the instrumental version was looped, loved it when everyone kept cheering to it. Even after Nana left, the entire hall was still rocking to DISCOTHEQUE.. I hope they won’t cut this part in the DVD later~ xD

- Accompanying Ryutan (bass), Martin (drum) also did the Cherry Boys MC. FEVER got 6 Cherry Boys, with Itaruvic (guitar), Tom-kun (keyboard), Yutapon (drum), and Kenny (guitar). And if anyone’s wondering, yes, Kenny got rid of the mustache. And no, Orchestral Fantasia wasn’t less amazing than Fighter’s Super Cherry Boys because we have Nana Strings back!

Two Nana @ 1/24

- Nana has ability to make a half-decent songs sound great live. COSMIC LOVE and Take A Chance don’t get a lot of plays in my iPod, but the live versions were something else.

- I may have heard / seen POWER GATE and ETERNAL BLAZE more than thousands times, but still can’t get enough of them. Time to crack the ultra oranges and jump!

- As usual, when Nana wears a nice dress (refer to costume 3 below), the raging fans demand her to turn around~ but this time not as easy, the audience must turn around first! Like any other bunch of idiots, we did so..

- Loooved Team Yoda’s dance session, moar so than Fighter. 6 dancers dressed and performed as 3 couples living in the 70s. Genderbending Mika was very cool, and I thought Shizuka would be the boy, but she pulled off a cute girl. Now we know Nana supports yuri!

- LOL Nana insulted White Album, in a way. She couldn’t understand why one guy can be surrounded by many girls who all fight over him. 「なんだこれは!」 (”What the heck is that?”) hahaha. I’m not sure I want to continue watching it.. this CD is a must buy though.

- In the last FEVER, I was getting pumped when Nana talked about Agematsu Mika before singing Shin Ai, hoping they’d repeat Formula’s Heart-shaped chant goodness.. too bad it didn’t come true. Maybe next time?

Three Nana!! @ 1/25

- Before Crystal Letter, there was a monologue video, or should I say a love letter, which was just beautiful. I might cry if I were alone. I liked how she said 「歌は心の手紙」 (”Song is a letter of heart”). And 「この世界で一番あなたが大好きです…」 was exactly what I (and most prolly the guy behind me who cried) had in my mind.

- Nana didn’t cry on 1/24, but did so in 1/25.. sobbing while giving lots of thanks to fans for whatever we did. I choked when she thanked “those who came from far away”. :P And of course, we thanked her in return, for being the sunshine of our lives.

- Most people commented how lucky I am to be in FEVER, well I did spend a hefty amount of $ for that.. talking about real (un)luck, I missed TWO chances to get the mirror ball give-away (I want Nana’s bacteria T_T). 1st day the guy just two seats to my right got it. 2nd day it was the guy diagonally behind me.. but yes I consider myself lucky, since Nana’s smile easily beats any kind of souvenir. <3

- Finally, another big news beside the 7th album.. Nana announced her upcoming Summer Live this July 5th (Sunday).. and this time she gets SEIBU DOME!! A *baseball stadium* that can fit almost 36,000 people! ..surely explained why everyone went banzaaaai again. ^^; Nana said even she couldn’t believe this, lol, and she made us promised her we’ll come to the big event.. so yeah, screw Animelo 2009.

- No info on the DVD/BD yet, so don’t ask me.

The Costumes.

I was tempted to buy some “illegal” photos sold on outside booths to get better scans.. I’m wondering how “illegal” these are, though. I believe Japan has a rather strict photography law on people, which should include celebrity too. And they were selling these live-pics/keychain/etc just right next to the front gate. Also I guess you need high-end cams with huge lens to capture decent photos on a concert’s dark setting, so it’s hard to imagine the staff missed them while checking the bags.. plus nobody sitting in the arena bothered to do anything other than fanboying/girling. Only “the officials” took pics. Can anyone (houkoholic?) please enlighten me?

Anyway these were the pics in question (from Osaka/Nagoya lives). I spoiled myself and saw these days before the live and while I thought some of them looked ridiculous, I changed my mind after seeing those in the live. ^^;

In order of appearance:

Costume #1

When I first saw the pic, I was like, wtf carrot alien? What did she sing on those, Ninjin Loves You Yeah? But hey, it turned out pretty cute, though I’d prefer the original nurse 70s costume for DISCOTHEQUE.

Costume #2

Now who would believe she’s 29 when she fits this just nice? -.-;

Costume #3

This beautiful blue dress is definitely my favorite, just perfect for Shin Ai..

Costume #4

Nana described this as “scary mafia boss” look, but I think it fits FEVER’s 70s theme. Yes, I did think the hair was weird, but it looked great on her. :P

Costume #5

Too bad the color was a bit off for a real nun or a Nana-sama ga miteru, I’m curious how people will react if it wasn’t lololol. でも天使みたいな… The legsss short skirt version was top-notch too.

Costume #6

Encore: the so-called “celebrity t-shirt”, priced at a shocking 5,500 yen, but was sold out very quick.

I believe next month’s seiyuu mags will have reports with better pics.

Song Differences

- Random songs @ track 4: COSMIC LOVE (1/23, 1/24), JET PARK (1/25).
- Random older songs @ track 13: Fake Angel (1/23), LOVE & HISTORY (1/24), and It’s in the bag (1/25)

- I was a bit disappointed for the lack of acoustic and/or character song session.. but heck I’m not complaining, as long as the “towel song” was performed @ encore 2. Towel successfully waved for Level Hi! on 1/23, PROTECTION on 1/24, and BE READY! on 1/25.

- As 1/23, she sang all new songs, with the exception of Gozen Reiji no Baby Doll, which was only performed @ encore 3 in that first day. 1/24 got Suddenly~meguriate~ and 1/25 got WILD EYES.

Setlists

Colored blue are the songs that changed. Refer to costume numbers too.

Extra Report: Live Fighter Costume Exhibition

As promised, Tora no Ana held the exhibition on level 6. I took time to visit it after getting the goods. Obviously no touching and no photos were allowed, the staff even reacted every time someone took out a cellphone.

To help you picture out the exhibition:
- All costumes were put into black mannequins, surrounded by safety poles like in museum.
- I was surprised that the black costume is not just plain black, but has a glowing butterfly patterns all over it.. didn’t notice that even in the bluray, maybe because of the lighting? And the costumes actually have great amount of details.. should stop making fun of them, eh.
- Fighter Bluray was played on a LCD, while Fighter photos were all around the walls.
- A small booth selling Nana’s older CD with a special bonus photo: Nana in kimono! No question asked, this loser (a.k.a. yours truly) bought an extra copy she doesn’t need for that.

Report conclusion in one sentence: The best 3 days in my life.

Rays last blog post.. Shugo Chara ~ Heartful Song by Nana Mizuki

Thanks for the report! Maybe I’ll be able to go next year…

Wow, she sang alot of my favourite songs.. now I really can’t wait for a DVD/Blu-ray release. Glad you had fun, its too bad you didn’t get a souvenir, but after seeing how those people were fighting over her cap from Live Fighter Red Side.. I personally wanna avoid that lol. Just curious, how much did this trip cost you approximately? Including plane tickets, hotel, food, tickets to the live and other expenses?

Makinos last blog post.. Mizuki Nana - Trickster Live at Music Fighter - 10 Oct 2008

Thanks for the report, Danie! I really, really wish I was there.

Julius Firefochts last blog post.. Kyuushou Gatsu Omedeto

The 3 days were really awesome!!!
And you are right, “CHU-LU CHU-LU CHU-LU PA-YA-PA” is very addictive!
I actually joined the crowded when queuing up for Nana’s goods when they played the song at the booth.
Everybody was already is such high spirits early in the morning!!!
And waiting for 5 hours in the cold while listening to Nana’s songs is quite an experience!

While I didn’t like any of the tour outfits as usual, I still wish I could’ve been there. Looking at the Budokan sign alone brings back so many memories. Thanks for the full report ^^. I’m going to try to go to the Sebu concert.

Hello, the first comment here, though I’ve seen your blog for a long time ^^”
Because of my poor English, there may be some mistakes in this comment=w=.
I’m so surprised that you also attended nana chan’s live in budokan. What’s more, I think I saw you while we were waiting to buy live fever goods on Jun 23 XDD”,and I don’t know whether they were you or not.
If you saw an unbrella with ad “China mobil” or “M zone”.It’s me XD
I will go to nana chan’s live once more in this winter for I think she may enjoy her 30th birthday with her fans XD.

It looks like she cut her hair in costume 3 :O!

Glad you had such a fun time at Live Fever :).

Is the baseball stadium concert going to be an outdoor concert then? :O

@Makino: I may decide to put up my spending chart, but it really depends on many factors. For “living” (hotel/train/food) I spend less than 40k yen for 10 days (must be super stingy). But I spent about 4x more for Nana goods and other things.. so yeah, it depends.

@evangel55: If you come early everyday, maybe we saw each other? LOL so you were one of those who dance in front of the booth..

@处处都在: I just saw your blog.. seeing your shitload of Shin Ai, did you stay in Sakura Hotel (Jimbocho)? I know the Chinese/Taiwanese/HK group were staying there. I was with Ray from Singapore if you know him.. In 1/23 I arrived before 5.30 so I was quite front, with black jacket and no umbrella, and maybe the first few girls who line up there. ^^;

@Benson: No it’s a “dome”, of course it has roof…

Thanks for this report, love some of the costumes

Sounds like fun! You went all the way to Japan for this? Well, I was just PARTIALLY (as in daydreaming) considering a trip to Singapore for May’n’s appearance there…and I’m from the US. A couple years ago I considered going cross-country to see Kikuko Inoue at a convention. If Minorin performs at a convention in the States, you bet I’ll try to be there.

Wow..
great report you got there!
*thumbs up*
ohoho..
mizuki nana is so cute^^
