Tenkuu no Canaria & STORIES totally awsm

Okay I need to wake up in about .. 2 hours, so I’ll make this quick. xD

I know that Tenkuu no Canaria was streamed in last week’s Smagan (ep 393), but by the time I’m not busy, everyone already heard of it elsewhere lol. Anyway from yesterday’s Smagan (ep 394), we got STORIES! I saved the show to accompany my way to work later and just jumped to the song lol. Streams and comments down.

Tenkuu no Canaria (天空ã®ã‚«ãƒŠãƒªã‚¢ Sky’s Canary)

I don’t think I need to say anything. It’s a cool fast-paced piece that most Nana-animu-fans will dig even before she sings any lyrics, especially that this makes OP of the new Tales OVA (is she still playing Colette or what). It’s like an anison version of the Gimige diet song–hence it feels adventurous, not as hasty, and gets a taste of epic arrangement. I personally love it too, and have been thinking several otagei movem–okay I’ll shut up.

STORIES

To my surprise, I really like STORIES a lot. I expected it to be a forgettable pop song, but it won me on its first playback. Let’s say (with cheese) that Mugen were depressing, but STORIES made me smile again. I felt refreshed and cheered up. Prolly a perfect tune after a long day at work. I’ll try that tomorrow night lol. For now I’ll just loop it to sleep (feeling warm and fuzzy)~ xD

Not sure if I’m still alive for next week’s likely stream of Dear Dream, but yeah gotta hang on another 10 days to the CD release~!

I love Tenkuu no Canaria. STORIES sounds nice, too.

Pretty rare for me to like the B side songs more than the A side song itself when it comes to Nana singles. Or Mugen’s PV is still giving me nightmares.

I can’t but completely agree with you Tenkuu no Canaria and STORIES are so good ! As you said, STORIES gives somewhat the energy required to stand a long day of work (maybe because it’s the theme song for some marathon/race show ?).

There’s also a short preview of Dear Dream on nico, and it doesn’t sound bad, tho we will need to wait a better release before saying anything ! ;D

  3. Tenma Tenma says:

r3: Actually, the reason why youlike both of those songs is because they are all A-Sides, not B-Sides. The whole CD is all A-Sides

hmm… i couldn’t really get the tune stuck in my head for both songs. probably i expected smth…more exciting. i still prefer Mugen over those two songs :/

oh and Live Diamond x Fever is available for pre-ordering if you didn’t know…

tenkuu no canaria is indeed typical nana’s anime OP theme song, which is nice! nuff said

STORIES’ melodies are actually just repeating same melodies, but nana’s awsm voice and the soothing lyrics just makes me loving it more and more~<3

@pure_awesome – we’re talking about THE danie here, of course she’d know it was up for pre-order. Probably was one of the first to do so. Pretty sure she twittered it too…

I hope this single doesn’t set a trend of B-sides becoming what most Nana fans like while the A-sides become more mainstream, because that would mark her actual transition to more mainstream (sharing Nana-sama with more people = bad). On a lighter note though, STORIES definitely made me feel warm and fuzzy as well – that violin part repeating really was a nice touch. Tenkuu no Canaria is definitely a welcome return to the epic that we all know and love. Too bad Mugen was the one that got the PV, one for either of these other two would have been better imo. :/

I guess it’s fair to say that any of these songs are actually outstanding. But… Crap, Nana-chan is singing, who wouldn’t listen.
Anyway, when I have the Single, I guess I get to love these songs, just like the rest of Nana-chan songs xD.

  8. Sebastian Sebastian says:

I loved both songs really, and I’ve yet to listen Mugen for a second time (yes the pv sucks, but I haven’t given up on that song yet, but sometimes songs you end up loving need several listens).

Anyway, I loved Tenkuu no Canaria’s bass line and of course, Nana’s vocal melodies…Stories, on the other hand, features really nice guitars, a catchy and upbeat chorus and nice strings.

If I had to criticize something just for the kicks, I’d said that the first one would be much better with real drums (I tend to think this way all the time when synth drums kick in) and Stories sounds a little bit average.

Idem. Nana’s voice in STORIES are indeed relaxing, adding up with the soothing melody..

As for Tenkuu no Canaria, it reminds me of the first time I hear fast-paced Nana’s anisong.. So epic that it’s good and inspirit me up!
